CHAPTER 0: VIRTUAL WAR

There are other worlds out there. Digital, Organic, worlds where our wildest dreams come true... This story takes us to the world you all know as Earth, were currently there is one big defining factor in the lifes of more than three fourths of the population, and that factor is called "Digimon Virtual".

Currently Unknown

Two monsters were facing off against one another at the top of a waterfall, both on their respective sides of the water. One of them was a purple devil/imp-ish looking being, about the same height as an average 6 year-old...or TImmy Turner, for that matter, and wearing a red scarf and gloves in the same color. The other was a lighter shaded purple and white fox/dragon hybrid, with small black wings on it's back, a red triangle shaped "core" on the forehead.

Both of them stared at one another...not moving, just scaling one another with their eyes. Until two voices rang out in the air, yelling "EQUIP!" The demon was suddenly armed with a blue-hilted broadsword, and the fox-dragon was handling a katana with it's mouth. The two leaped over the water and swung at one another in mid-air. The sound of clashing steel ringed in their ears. The now broken katana pierced the ground as it's shattered remains was spread on the rocks. The fox-dragon landed in the water and was taken along with the stream. The battle was over.

"VICTORY!" The scenery disappeared, along with the demon-imp, revealing it all to be a digital rendering of battle. Simulated on the game systems of two boys who was now shaking hands. The game systems in their hands read "DV", which was short for "Digimon Virtual", and the monster fighting were both Digimon, owned by the two of them.

"This sets the score to 27-25 in your favor, Ryu." "Yeah, you might be behind me, but you are slowly catching up, mate!" The winner of the match was named Nadare Fubuki. The guy was wearing a green jaket over a white shirt which donned the red Digital Matrix symbol, iconic for this game. He wore some regular blue jeans and black shoes as well. His hair was brown, medium length and slightly spiky, while his eyes were purple. His partner who just won him the match was an Impmon, his preffered Digimon. His opponent and rival/friend was Ryu Kishi. Ryu wore a blue shirt, brown jeans, a black belt and shoes. His face had a few scars, as he was regullary out camping, and it left it's marks. His hair was black and quite long. His eyes were a calmer green color. The partner he was using was called DORUmon, a pretty unique Digimon which fit his style perfectly.

Nadare picked up a notebook from his backback and started to write a short refferance from this last battle. "You're really into it, aren't you, Nadare?" Ryu said, sitting down by his portable cooler, picking out a soda can. "You're always looking around for combo-plays and better ways to improve in this game...yet, why does it seem you can only properly win against me?" Nadare looked up and got a nervous smile on his face, closing the notebook. "Well, you know me? All about planning, not much about action..." He admited, causing Ryu to chuckle. "You'll never get anywhere with that attitude." "But you know it is true..." ".....Okay, you got me there."

The two of them sat down and looked at their cards, which was a crucial part of this game. Using the scanners on the side of their systems, the card data would transfer over to their Digimon in the middle of a fight, graning them bonuses and nifty tricks. Ryu reached into his box of cards, smiling at Nadare, causing him to stare back with a confused expression. "What?" "Oh nothing, just the fact you owe me big-time for this~" He said with a grin, handing his friend a gold lettered card by the name "Pandemonium Flame", causing the former to spasm about in excitement.

"Where did you get this!? It's a Gold Rare, for Pete's sake!" Nadare asked in that same excited tone. Ryu simply held up an empty booster pack. "Sometimes you just get lucky." "Thanks a lot, pal! Hey, want to test it out, right away?" Nadare asked, picking up his game system again, causing Ryu to do the same. "It's on~"

Meanwhile, in the Digital World

A whole bunch of Digimon were gathered at what was called "The Collosseum of the Ancients", usually a great tourist spot were one could learn about the Digital World's history, and the Digimon that helped shape it. Great warriors like Omnimon and Alphamon were presented, fighting opponents like Dexmon and Appokalymon. However, the giant mass of Digimon weren't there for history reasons.

The guardian deities known as the "Royal Knights" were present in the middle of the Collosseum, including the formerly mentioned Omnimon and Alphamon. The crowd included various members of the 10 factions that the Digital World was currently split in, members of the army of said factions, a little handful of civilians, and others. Omnimon looked up towards the crowd as he started to speak.

"My dear bretheren, it has come to the Royal Knights' notice that the world is currently in a state of jeapordy. All of the factions seem to have issues with setting borders and maintainging the peace as we know it. Every day, life is lost and re-created as this feud continues. Meanwhile, a bunch of Digimon have appeared that seem to be forming a hidden 11th faction, and aims to overthrow the entire world. The great God Yggdrasil has thus made a decision...you're all free to disagree with Yggdrasil's decision, but things will go as he decided...to solve the problems with the factions territories and this rouge faction trying to take over, Yggdrasil wants all factions to suit up for battle and get ready for war."

The mere mention of the word "war" caused the entire collosseum crowd to panic, shout, disagreeing with all of this, asking why the Royal Knights couldn't take this matter into their hands instead of dumping it on the factions. "SILENCE! Each faction will recieve their own amount of territories, and each faction will have an equal amount. You'll will asign your armies to these areas. An opposing faction can enter that area to try to conquer it. If so happens, then that territory will be part of that faction when they win. Furthermore-"

"Now hold it right there, mister!"
Someone yelled out from the top of the collosseum. The crowd which shifted their attention up there, which was everyone, would see an Impmon, who was wearing torn jeans and having bandages wrapped around it's chest and wrists, looking down at all of them. "Some of the factions are really small, and lacking in support needed to fund the war, or even both. How are you going to balance this out, old man!?" The demon-imp shouted, pointing at Omnimon with one of it's fingers lit on fire, as if it was about to fire one of it's fireballs at him.

"Cease your rebelious behavior and hear me out, I was getting to that." Omnimon replied, causing the Impmon to frown and and sit back down to listen. "As I was about to say, before getting interupted, we will send scouts out to the Human Wold and gather Digi-Destined that will aid you. No matter how small a faction is, having a Digi-Destined will put them in the lead over anyone else. Which is why we are going to look for enough humans to give all of you an equal amount of fighters. Most of you already have partners that are connected to you, you just don't know them yet."

The crowd was slowly getting more cheerful, and actually going along with the idea. They were discussing between one another how they could financially gain from this war, saw chances to improve their ranks in the army, still panicing about the situation, or even getting to the point of already picking fights with one another. "Um..excuse me...?" Someone said and raised a hand. Omnimon, who was connected to everyone in the Collosseum, heard the Digimon. "Yes, what is it that you want to ask about?" He said, and the entire crowd's eyes moved and found the source of the question; a Palmon clothed in a pink kimono.

"Um...how long until this war breaks out...and how will we know when it is over...?" The Palmon asked, shying a bit back into the crowd. Omnimon gave a nod over to one of his fellow Royal knights, Magnamon, who proceeds to float up into the air and materialize a countdown. "When this timer runs out, the war will start. Yggdrasil has not yet revealed to any of us when it will be over, but we will make sure to let all the factions know when it is indeed revealed." The crowd gasped upon seeing the countdown. Some even started to hastly retreat out of the Collosseum to hurry home.

Because the war that would break out over the entire Digital World, which might change their lifes forever, was set to start in less than two days...
Wwll, terrorist attack threats or not, nothing is stopping me from doing anything when I have time off.

I present to you, Chapter 0 of the Digimon story I pitched some time ago.

It's a work in progress, but I decided to upload this part first, because...well, so you guys can see I'm actually writing this story and all that jazz. :aww:

(Finally got some time to read this...)

This is looking pretty promising. I haven't watched Digimon in years, so my knowledge has deteriorated, but very interested how this will turn out. :3

And this reminds me about my own writing project for the locke.... >.>;
